Father of San Bernardino shooter reveals his son supported ISIS and wanted to see Israel wiped off the map

By Dailymail.com Reporter A friend of a victim of Wednesday’s shooting in San Bernardino claims that gunman Syed Rizwan Farook told Nicholas Thalasinos, who was fatally shot in the massacre, that ‘Islam will rule the world’. CV Claverie claimed in a Facebook post on Thursday that Farook had been ‘threatening’ Thalasinos, telling him that ‘Christians and Jews deserve to die; and that he (Nicholas) was going to die’. Clavarie’s post surfaced as Farook's father revealed his son supported ISIS, wanted the destruction of Israel and avoided socializing because of his strong religious views. Speaking outside his Californian home, Syed Farook, 67, told the Italian newspaper La Stampa that his 28-year-old son was a 'momma's boy' who had become 'too shy, conservative and fixated against Israel'. Mr Farook also claimed that his son, who died along with his Pakistani-born wife Tashfeen Malik on Wednesday after killing 14 and injuring 21, rarely went...

Muslim Reform Movement

Preamble We are Muslims who live in the 21st century. We stand for a respectful, merciful and inclusive interpretation of Islam. We are in a battle for the soul of Islam, and an Islamic renewal must defeat the ideology of Islamism, or politicized Islam, which seeks to create Islamic states, as well as an Islamic caliphate. We seek to reclaim the progressive spirit with which Islam was born in the 7th century to fast forward it into the 21st century. We support the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, which was adopted by United Nations member states in 1948. We reject interpretations of Islam that call for any violence, social injustice and politicized Islam. Facing the threat of terrorism, intolerance, and social injustice in the name of Islam, we have reflected on how we can transform our communities based on three principles: peace, human rights and secular governance. We are announcing...

How to Marginalize the Islamic State Online

By Jared Cohen he Islamic State, or ISIS, is the first terrorist group to hold both physical and digital territory: in addition to the swaths of land it controls in Iraq and Syria, it dominates pockets of the Internet with relative impunity. But it will hardly be the last. Although there are still some fringe terrorist groups in the western Sahel or other rural areas that do not supplement their violence digitally, it is only a matter of time before they also go online. In fact, the next prominent terrorist organization will be more likely to have extensive digital operations than control physical ground. Although the military battle against ISIS is undeniably a top priority, the importance of the digital front should not be underestimated. The group has relied extensively on the Internet to market its poisonous ideology and recruit would-be terrorists. According to the International Centre for the Study of Radicalisation...

Police, feds probe terror as possible motive in SoCal massacre

by FoxNews.com Law enforcement authorities are eyeing terrorism as a possible motive for an attack in Southern California that left 14 dead and was carried out with cold precision by a "devout" Muslim and his wife, who were killed hours later in a shootout with police. Dressed in tactical gear and toting assault rifles, Syed Rizwan Farook, 28, and Tashfeen Malik, 27, burst into a San Bernardino social services facility and shot up a conference room where Farook's employer, the county health department, was hosting a holiday party. The pair escaped in a black SUV after the attack, which authorities said was over within minutes, only to resurface four hours later and less than two miles away in a fierce gun battle on the city's main drag. "They came prepared to do what they did, as if they were on a mission," San Bernardino Police Chief Jarrod Burguan said. Farook, who...

ISIS video claims beheading of Russian spy

By Greg Botelho, CNN (CNN) ISIS released video Wednesday showing the beheading of a man it claims joined the terrorist group but was in fact a Russian spy, as well as a message chastising Russian President Vladimir Putin and threatening his country's citizens. As the captive kneels before him in an orange jumpsuit, his killer says in Russian that the airstrikes ordered by Putin against the Islamist extremist group "has only made us more certain and more firm." He then addresses the Russian people, saying, "You will not find peace in your homes. We will kill your sons ... for each son you killed here. And we will destroy your homes for each home you destroyed here." CNN could not immediately verify the authenticity of the video, much less the ISIS claim that the man beheaded was a Russian spy. If true, it joins a growing catalog of atrocities in which...

What’s the matter with Belgium?

By: MARGARET WENTE After the terrible attacks two weeks ago in Paris, the media spotlight switched to a newly discovered source of jihadi radicalism: Belgium. Who knew? Known mainly for its Eurocrats, chocolate and moules frites, little Belgium is also the jihadi capital of Europe. It has contributed more foreign fighters to jihad – 500, and counting – than any other European state, on a per capita basis. Belgian-born terrorists were instrumental in the Paris attacks. As authorities in Belgium launched a massive manhunt, Brussels was locked down for days over fears that the terrorists would strike again. How did Belgium become a hotbed of radicalism? Unlike France, Belgium has no unhealed wounds from colonial wars waged against Muslims. (Most Belgian Muslims come from Morocco.) Unlike France, its immigrants are not trapped in remote suburbs (they live right downtown, a few blocks from the parliament buildings). Unlike France, Belgium has no...

Paris Attackers May Have Been Fueled by This Drug

CAPTAGON SUPPRESSES THE NEED TO EAT, SLEEP By Arden Dier,  Newser Staff (NEWSER) – How does one massacre scores of people? Drugs may help. French media are reporting that the Paris attackers may have taken Captagon, a synthetic drug that suppresses hunger and reduces the need for sleep. Also known as the "jihadist's drug," it's a favorite of ISIS fighters, reports ABC Australia. Police say syringes, needles, and plastic tubing were found in a hotel room rented by Salah Abdeslam, while survivors describe the terrorists as serene and composed. "They were like zombies," says one. "It's as if they were drugged." Captagon's active ingredient, fenethylline, breaks down into theophylline—similar to caffeine—and amphetamine, which boosts pleasure and alertness and reduces a person's need for sleep and food. But experts tell Live Science the drug isn't as potent as Adderall. Captagon was originally developed in the 1960s to treat hyperactivity and depression, but...

Online Criminal Justice Students Study Homeland Security In Israel Degree Programs Posted by Saint Leo University Online on Jul 9, 2015 7:08:29 AM: Reposted by HSN with permission of St. Leo University. For online students, course aboard was an opportunity to learn about best practices in counterterrorism and connect with other students and professionals. With a busy career in law enforcement and 11 children at home, Mike Fritz never expected study abroad to be part of his online criminal justice degree program. Neither did military spouse Katelyn Flanagan, who is also earning an online bachelor’s degree in criminal justice while stationed in Germany with her husband. But that changed this spring, when the two online students traveled to Israel with Saint Leo University professor Robert Sullivan for an intensive, eight-day course focused on counterterrorism tactics and methods. “Professor Sullivan said it would be the trip of a lifetime and it was,” says Fritz....
